, 62, crashed into the River Wharfe while riding one of his firm's motorised scooters round his estate in Thorp Arch, Boston Spa, West Yorkshire, on Sunday, 26th September 2010.
A spokesman for Hesco Bastion said: "It is with great sadness that we have to confirm that Jimi Heselden OBE has died in a tragic accident near his home in West Yorkshire."
The spokesman added: "Jimi is best known for his charity work with Help for Heroes and the Leeds Community Foundation.
Mr Heselden founded Leeds-based company Hesco Bastion, acquiring the Segway operation in December 2009.
He grew up in the Halton Moor area of Leeds, leaving school at 15 and working down local pits. He worked as a miner until losing his job in a wave of redundancies in the 1980s.
Mr Heseldine was a much loved husband father & grandad ,,
a true man of enormous generosity ' a true yorkshireman who never forgot his roots.Best know for his charity work with Help for Heroes and the Leeds Community Foundation jimi was awarded an 0.B.E.in the 2006 queen's birthday honour's for services to the defence industry and to charity '.He will be very sadly missed and all our thoughts go out to his family and close friends.R.I.P Jimi xx
